Moving Your Cloud Forward with a Google and Salesforce Integration

As a leading cloud services brokerage we are often asked about cloud integrations, which work to seamlessly tie together multiple cloud solutions and the data they store to increase overall functionality and end user efficiency. The options for cloud-to-cloud integrations are endless, but some of the most often-requested projects include those that integrate email and collaboration systems with sales automation and CRM systems. With many organizations already operating on both Google Apps and Salesforce, I think it’s valuable to discuss some of the integration options available for these two solutions. You can learn about all of these options in detail by downloading this free white paper.

Typically, integrations between Google Apps and the Salesforce can be grouped into three different approaches: native (out of the box) integrations, third party integrations and custom integrations.

Native (out of the box) Integrations

Native integrations use native, or out of the box features, provided within each of the platforms to enable communication between the two solutions. Examples of available native integrations between Google and Salesforce include adding Google Docs to Salesforce and sending Gmail to Salesforce to automatically log email activity.

Third Party Integrations

In the case that native functionalities will not meet your integration needs, third party applications can be purchased through the Google Apps Marketplace or the Salesforce AppExchange to expand your integration options. Some common third party integrations that Cloud Sherpas helps many customers implement include contracts management with DocuSign and single sign-on with OneLogin and Okta.

Custom Integrations

If you find that neither native solutions nor third party solutions are suited to meet your integration needs, it is also possible to use custom integrations that a partner like Cloud Sherpas can build on either the Google or Salesforce development platforms. Some common custom integrations we’ve built include adding Salesforce data to Google Maps and integrating Google Drive content into a Salesforce record.
